Deputies appeal for help in identifying Deltona flasher

DELTONA -- The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is appealing to the public for help in identifying a flasher who has exposed himself to young girls in Deltona three times in the last month.

The first incident occurred on Jan. 6 as a 10-year-old girl was riding her bicycle along Clewiston Street.

"The flasher struck two days later on Laredo Drive, less than two miles away from the first episode," Sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson said. "The most recent incident occurred Monday along La Casita Street, less than six miles from the first two. The suspect and vehicle descriptions as well as the suspect’s methods -- right down to the time of day -- were similar in all three cases, leading Sheriff’s investigators to believe that the same person committed all three offenses.

All of the victims are girls between the ages of 7 and 12. While the first victim was riding her bicycle, the victims in the last two incidents were playing outside in front of a house. In each case, the victims described a clean-shaven white man between the ages of 35 and 50 driving a black pickup truck.

"The suspect opens the door on the driver’s side of the truck to expose his penis, then quickly shuts the door and drives off without saying a word," Davidson said. "Deputies have been scouring the streets of Deltona looking for the suspect, searching vehicle databases and checking out known sex offenders in the area. They’ve even had victims view photo line-ups of possible suspects, but so far the man remains unidentified."

Deputies are asking anyone with information regarding the flasher to call law enforcement. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers, which is offering a reward for anyone who helps identify or locate the suspect.

Additionally, investigators are asking residents to be observant for suspicious vehicles matching the suspect description and jot down the tag number if possible, Davidson said.

Anyone who wants to talk directly to law enforcement about the case can call Sheriff’s investigator A.J. Pagliari at (386) 860-7030. Callers who wish to remain anonymous and qualify for a reward of up to $1,000 can contact Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS. Information also can be anonymously sent to Crime Stoppers by texting “TIP231 plus the message” to CRIMES.
