DAYTONA BEACH -- A woman nude from the waist down when she was struck and killed by a motorist Tuesday while walking along U.S. Highway 92 after her release from jail has been identified as 41-year-old Dawn Marie Abraham of DeLand, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The partially-nude woman was carrying her clothes and shoes while walking west of Old Daytona Road, just before 11 p.m. when a car driven by 21-year-old Krystle Gousse of Deltona exited the Interstate 4 off-ramp onto U.S. 92 and tried to avoid hitting the victim who was thrown onto the hood and across the rear before she landed face first on the roadway, the highway patrol said.
The accident occurred about five hours after Abraham was released from the Volusia County Branch Jail, where she had ben held since April 8 on DUI charges.
Why she was partially nude is unknown, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
