NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for door-to-door scammers looking to make a quick buck.
Anyone seeking solicitations must have a "solicitation permit" when going door-to-door, said Sgt. Michael Brouillette, police department spokesman.
Such permits are issued exclusively by the New Smyrna Beach Police Department to legally allow persons to go door-to-door and ask for donations, Brouillette stressed.
Brouillette said one person was arrested Sunday for giving out false information to residents.
Currently there are three permits that have been issued for door-to-door solicitations, he said.
Anyone with questions is asked to call New Smyrna Beach police at 386-424-2220.
