NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Several hundred residents either sat on lawn chairs, the lawns themselves or in parked automobiles for the annual Oak Hill Parade that passed through the heart of the quaint city near the post office.
The 2 p.m. parade was short -- less than 10 minutes, but the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed with children receiving lots of candy along the way.
The parade was led by Acting Interim Police Chief Diane Young and included several city commissioners and the marching bands from New Smyrna Beach High School and New Smyrna Beach Middle School, as well as several elaborate floats.
