NEW SMYRNA BEACH --During the last two weeks, beachside property owners have reported nine
residential burglaries, which occurred in different neighborhoods on the beachside, New Smyrna Beach police warn.
"The offenders are targeting vacant seasonal/rental properties and are stealing electronic equipment such as flat screen televisions and DVD players," police spokesman Sgt. Michael Brouillette said. "Entry into the residences has been forceful and in a majority of the cases, occurred in the rear of the residence."
Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. If residents see unfamiliar faces or vehicles in their neighborhoods or on their neighbor's property, they are asked please call police to investigate.
Anyone with suspect information is asked to call Detective N. Diffin at 386-424-2248 or Crime Stoppers. All callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous. Call Crime Stoppers tip line, toll free, at (888) 277-TIPS (8477). Tipsters may be eligible for a reward up to $1000 for information leading to an indictment.
