Officer Brandon Mechtel responded to a 7:15 p.m. Friday call of a disorderly person destroying someone else's property in the 400 block of Flagler Avenue. Mechtel wrote in his initial report the man was "found to be intoxicated and unintentionally damaging the property of another."

Mechtel said that while the man was in custody and he was writing up the police report, the man "attempted to commit suicide."
