Ashley Reed of Edgewater earns top college honors

Ashley Reed of Edgewater has received two prestigious honors in her first year at Florida State University.

EDGEWATER -- Ashley Reed, a 19-year-old freshman at Florida State University, and a 2009 graduate of New Smyrna Beach High School, has received two prestigious honors.

Reed was named recipient of a $1,000 annual scholarship by Community Papers of Florida, in recognition of her 3.9 grade point average at FSU. She will receive a matching amount each of the next three years if she maintains her average.

The Edgewater resident also also has recently qualified for membership into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, which is by invitation only and based on class standing and grade point average (please see atteachment).

Reed has also been able to maintain her standing on the Deans List at FSU as well where she is majoring in psychology. Reed was a member of the National Honor Society at New Smyrna Beach High.
