NSBNEWS.net is by far the strongest New Smyrna Beach-based media outlet and public information Website in all of Southeast Volusia as we continue to grow from our April 2008 launch, reaching more and more people near and far. Whether it's breaking news or in-depth reporting, the local news is right here, even what's happening around the globe.

We continue to reach record numbers of unique visitors and page views, as demonstrated in the weekly Google Analytics tracking service for on-line use. For the week of May 31-June7, for example, NSBNEWS.net received 11,108 unique visits compared to 5,312 the previous week, or an increase of 100.9 percent. Pageviews that week rocketed to 16,021 from 9,077, a hike of 76.5 percent.

We've seen a steady increase in people coming to our site, even without street signage, thanks in large measure to word of mouth and cyber technoloy, including social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube).

Advertisers are our lifeline and we need their community support to continue our efforts to provide daily journalism coverage. NSBNEWS.net is the first daily online news source that doesn't have traditional print media, television or radio as its base. We are truly a 21st-century daily online newspaper and the first of its kind in Florida.

Peter Mallory and I had a shared dream. He simply wanted to write a blog and I wanted to continue my journalism career in Volusia County that dates back to 1996, with nearly two years prior to this venture flying back and forth on weekends as a city editor during the week in my native Massachusetts.

Mallory labors over his blog and I labor over everything else, with an assist from my lovely and talented wife. There are also the talented community bloggers who enjoy contributing their talents and of course, the support from advertisers, who are learning that a one-day ad in print media goes a lot further here -- as far as six months to a year.

It doesn't come as a surprise to me through hard work, dedication and a strong belief in our community that NSBNEWS.net continues to attract more and more people.
