Funeral service for Lester Eugene Smith, age 82, of Lake Mary, Florida, who died Monday, July 5, 2010 at Terrace of Daytona Beach will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 12 at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Lanett, Alabama. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until service time.
Private burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lanett. Born in Hartville, Ohio, Mr. Smith, a retired Director of Stores for WestPoint Stevens, Inc. moved to this area 7 years ago. He enjoyed travel, family, fishing, and boating.
Survivors include his son, Bradley and wife, Sue, of Decatur, Georgia; 2 daughters, Leslie Mahaffey and husband, Charles of Lake Mary, and Phyllis Winnicky and husband, Adam, of New Smyrna Beach; a brother, Paul of Ravenna, Ohio; a sister, Wilma Keplinger of Madison, Alabama; 6 grandchildren, Troy Butler and Ryan Smith of Decatur, Georgia, Kevin Butler of St. Louis, Missouri, Shelly Mahaffey of Lake Mary, and Kyle Smith of Augusta, Georgia. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by 2 wives, Donna Fike Smith and Jackie McWhorter Smith.
