NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- City officials held an informational session Tuesday night for residents to ask questions about the proposed budget that would raise taxes by 6.3 percent over this year.

Department heads sat at several tables, making themselves available to answer questions. The turnout was light with a couple dozen residents for the 6 p.m. event with little fanfare.

The big fireworks are expected at the July 28 City Commission budget workshop when a formal presentation is planned and a tentative millage rate is set.
