They won a berth in the postseason with a 42-19 drubbing of district foe Viera. 'Cudas Coach Lance Jenkins was pleased as well. Check out our exclusive videos. NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Even 'Cudas Coach Lance Jenkins caught a glimpse of Homecoming during halftime of the New Smyrna Beach romp of Viera that mercifully ended 42-19. The win Friday night at the New Smyrna Beach Sports Complex before a packed home crowd meant a second consecutive post-season in District 14-4A and first under Jenkins.
The back-to-back postseason berths was accomplished for the first time since the beginning of the decade. The Barracudas, now 5-4 for the season, and 1-1 in district play, travel to ddistrict champ Fort Pierce Central on Nov. 19, a team that is undefeated at 8-0.
Friday night's game started off with a bang as NSB's Jeff Schofield returned the opening kickoff 50 yards. That drive led to a 1-yard touchdown run by Sean Washington to put the 'Cudas up 7-0.
By halftime, the lead had swelled to 21-7 on a 62-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Evan Schroeder to Raheem Mostert. The speedy receiver also returned a 62-yard punt for a touchdown in the third quarter.
