New Smyrna Beach city officials need to show leadership with Bert Fish situation

Below is a copy of my request to appear before the New Smyrna Beach City Commission, our supposed leaders, who to date have been totally indifferent as to the goings on over at Bert Fish, where "millions of dollars" of legal fees have continued to be run up by the attorneys; all the while that our elected and appointed officials are more interested in the same old back-slapping and kumbaya crap that this commission has been bragging about for way too long.

Ask them as a group how many hospital meetings they have attended over the last two years.

I can tell you first hand, that our five elected and three primary appointees have possibly attended a dozen meetings combined.

These are our leaders?

All we seem to hear lately is "we're doing this, and we're doing that," and "we're pushing forward on 39 different projects," yet not one non-tax supported job has been created, not one. All the while, they are allowing the legal beagles over at the hospital to run up millions of dollars in legal fees, which we the citizens are going to have to pay through hospital taxes for a long time.

And what are our supposed leaders focused on this week while you and I continue to get ripped off? Well, they are too busy wondering and waiting to see who gets to be crowned the best Mayor and City Manager in Volusia County this year, as if anyone but them gives a you know what.

Until the next time!

Bob Tolley

Subject: Request To Appear

Johnny: I am requesting to appear on the agenda at the next reguarly scheduled city commission meeting in order to discuss the following matter(s): bring the elected officials (who to date have been totally indifferent to the matter/problem) up to date as to what is transpiring over at BFMC Hospital, and the adverse financial impact that it will have on each citizen of this city who are responsible for their portion of the legal and other costs involved with these matters, and who will have to pay for the same via a series of ever increasing hospital tax increases and/or other special assessments.

Thanks, Bob Tolley
