DAYTONA BEACH --- Passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport increased 14 percent in June compared with June 2010. During the month 44,687 passengers flew in or out of the airport in comparison with 39,296 passengers in June 2010.
For the 12 months ending June 30, passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport is up 15 percent -- from 454,260 passengers last year to 523,749 passengers this year.
Rick Karl, the airport's director, said the increase in June reflects the continued use of larger aircraft by Delta Air Lines and U.S Airways combined with strong passenger loads and competitive fares.
Since November 2009, airport passenger traffic has continued on a positive trend following the downturn in 2008 and 2009.
“We remain optimistic traffic will continue to grow through the busy summer season and we continue to be encouraged by the confidence in our market demonstrated by Delta Air Lines and U.S Airways,” Karl said.
