DELAND — Frank Bruno's campaign for state senate announced today that the Democrat has generated a six-figure haul in campaign contributions from hundreds of donors across the voting district.
The total as of 1 p.m. today is $118,700 for Volusia County Council Chairman Bruno in his race race for the seat held by term-limited Evelyn Lynn. His likely Republican opponent is Republican State Rep. Dorothy Hukill.
“The outpouring of support from hundreds of supporters in this community sends a strong message to Tallahassee: it’s time for a change in leadership,” Bruno told NSBNews.net.
“In these tough times families are looking for real leadership and the business experience needed to address the issues most important to the people of Florida, and that’s strengthening the economy and creating jobs. It’s the kind of leadership I’ve centered my career on, and the leadership I’ll take to Tallahassee.”
Bruno is a 40-year resident of Volusia County and term-limited as chairman of the County Council. Hukill, the former Port Orange mayor, is term-limited as well as state representative.
A veteran of the US Army and longtime businessman, Bruno said he has centered his campaign on the principals for which he has built his career: hard work, honesty, fairness and innovative thinking. With over 20 years of public service to the people of Volusia County, Bruno has received strong backing from some of the most influential business leaders in the community like insurance magnate J Hyatt Brown.
“Frank Bruno has built a reputation for hard work, honesty, fairness, and innovative thinking," said Brown, of Brown and Brown. "He’s a successful local business leader and public official. And he’s a problem solver. Frank is just the kind of person the voters of District 7 want to represent them in the Florida Senate.”
