Traveler's paradise along scenic waterway
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Talk about livin' it up in a relaxing getaway: The Black Dolphin is a new high-end boutique inn open for business along scenic South Riverside Drive in New Smyrna Beach's historic district.
With old-world Spanish-Isle architecture as a backdrop, the Black Dolphin features 14 luxurious units -- 10 deluxe hotel-style rooms and four one-bedroom suites -- individually designed with vintage furniture, fine art, eclectic accents and spa baths.
When it comes to the new Smyrna Beach lodging scene, the most discriminating traveler’s stay is at the Black Dolphin Inn. Tucked away in a quiet New Smyrna Beach neighborhood just minutes from the beach, this historic inn has a connection to the outdoors where you can feel breezes blowing and look at seemingly endless water views.
And yes, if you are patient enough, you can see real-life dolphins jumping in the Intracoastal Waterway. You'll also see elegant dolphins and other beautiful birds.
The Black Dolphin Inn is owned and operated by 61-year-old identical twin brothers, Brett and Scott Smith, originally from the Jersey Shore.
This is the brothers' first venture together since 1969, Brett Smith said, adding he's been in Florida the longer of the two -- since 2001, where he was managing the Trade Winds Resorts in St. Petersburg, and residing in New Smyrna Beach since 2006.
"We're both excited to share in his venture," Brett Smith said. "We've been open for two weeks now and we're very pleased to be operating in the historic district of New Smyrna Beach."
