DAYTONA BEACH -- The man shot outside Papi's Bottle Club early Saturday has died and the case is now being investigated as a murder, a Volusia County Sheriff's official said.
Investigators don't yet have a suspect in the killing of 28-year-old Terrell A. Lesane of Daytona Beach, cut down by a lone gunman's bullet, just before 5 a.m. at the North Nova Road hangout which caused the crowd to scatter, but they are hoping a snapshot they were able to capture from a nearby surveillance camera will lead them to a man they are calling a "person of interest."
"Sheriff’s investigators are trying to get the man identified so they can talk to him to see what information he can provide about the shooting," agency spokesman Gary Davidson told Headline Surfer, describing him as a thin, African-American with dreadlocks. Investigators believe he may be known to spend time in the St. Augustine area.
The shooting occurred at about 4:58 a.m., just as a crowd was gathering outside of Papi's. Two deputies were close enough to the scene to hear a fight breaking out in the parking lot.
As the deputies drove to the scene, they heard a gunshot ring out and then saw the crowd scatter. Lesane was found bleeding in the street and more gunfire was heard north of the scene.
About a half a block away, at Nova Road and 8th Street, deputies discovered more blood but are not aware of any more victims, though the blood splatter leaves that possibility open.

"While deputies are still talking to witnesses, preliminary indications are that a fight broke out inside of Papi's Bottle Club right before closing time that spilled out into the parking lot as patrons filed out of the club," Davidson said.
Lesane, who was rushed to Halifax Health Medical Center in critical condition, was pronounced dead at 6:52 p.m. Saturday.
