PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Gov. Rick Scott on Friday announced the reappointment of Sarah Walton, a Pensacola-based attorney, to the Environmental Regulation Commission.
Walton, 36, of Pensacola, is an attorney with the law firm of Philip A. Bates PA. Her reappointment Friday runs through July 1, 2017.
The Florida Environmental Regulation Commission is a non-salaried, seven-member board selected by the governor, whose trustees represent agriculture, the development industry, local government, the environmental community, citizens and members of the scientific and technical community.
The ERC sets standards and rules that protect Floridians and the environment based on sound scientific and technical validity, economic impacts, and risks and benefits to the public and Florida’s natural resources.

Most issues that go before the commission relate to air pollution, water quality and waste management.
Tentative meetings scheduled the remainder of 2014 are as follows: March 20, April 17, May 15, June 19, Aug. 21, Sept. 18, Oct. 23 and Dec. 4. There are no meetings scheduled in July or November.
The board meets in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Building, 3900 Commonwealth Blvd., Tallahassee.
Besides Walton, other ERC board members are Will Montoya of Ponte Vedra, Joe Joyce of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Adam R. Gelber of Atkins North America in Miami, Cari Roth of Bryant Miller & Olive P.A. in Tallahassee, Michael R. Bauer of Naples and Anna Dooley of Greenscape of Jacksonville.
