Issues: 21 rescues in surf, 30 jellyfish stings & vehicles stuck in soft sand
DAYTONA BEACH -- Volusia County Beach Safety flew the yellow flag today for moderate rip current conditions with nearly two dozen people caught in rip currents who had to be rescued.
Besides 21 rescues, there were some other issues for breach safety personnel to contend with on this hot Saturday.
"We have some jellyfish coming in and have had approximately 30 stings so far today," Capt. Tamra Marris of the Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue and agency spokeswoman told Headline Surfer®. "We are experiencing soft sand issues. There are small portions of the beach that will be closed off on Sunday due to soft sand."
