NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Between now and Dec. 18, Deputy Police Chief Donna Lavallee and her colleagues in law enforcement at the New Smyrna Beach cop shop are encouraging citizens to remember the holidays and the true meaning of giving -- not just among family and friends, but to those less fortunate in the community.
Unfortunately, there are some that will not be able to enjoy the spirit of the Christmas season because of a lack of financial resources," Lavallee told Headline Surfer®, adding "Hopefully, with community effort and support, we will be able to help make some lives brighter with the New Smyrna Beach Police Department’s 26th annual "Operation Christmas Cheer.”

Members of the NSBPD are helping Lavallee by gathering donated toys, canned goods, and clothing in collection boxes located at the following locations:
• New Smyrna Beach City Hall, at 210 Sams Ave;
• New Smyrna Beach Police Department, 246 Industrial Park Ave;
• New Smyrna Beach Fire Department, 500 E. 3rd Ave.
"Operation Christmas Cheer" will continue through Dec. 18, at which time all collected items will be distributed to families in need throughout Southeast Volusia County. Please help others enjoy the holiday and help get the word out to the community.
