DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Republicans are ahead of Democrats in mail-in ballots according to counts by Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis at the conclusion of the first day of early voting on this Monday night.
Among vote-by-mail ballots returned to her office as of today's date of Oct 24, Lewis counted 17,636 from registered Republicans, 14,936 from registered Democrats and 7,883 listed as others.
That bodes well for Donald Trump supporters. Then again, Democrats outnumbered Republicans taking part in the first day of Early Voting.
But on first day of Early Voting saw far more Democrats, 3489, than Republicans, 2,727, and 1,342 listed as others at the designating polling places. Early voting continues daily through Nov. 5 with the general election on Nov. 8.
In other election news, Lewis Announces a change in a polling location: Precinct 619, formally located at Mt Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, has permanently moved to Allen Chapel AME Church; 580 George W Engram Blvd, Daytona Beach.
“This change in no way reflects on Mt Carmel, they have been very accommodating and hospitable throughout the years”, Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis told Headline Surfer and other media outlets. “With the increase in voter registration in the precinct; the larger polling room and parking lot will be able to handle the volume of voters on Election Day.”

Registered voters in precinct 619 will be receiving a new voter information card reflecting this change. On Election Day, a notice will also be posted at the old location to inform voters of this change as well as on the Supervisor of Elections website, www.volusiaelections.org.
