2015 Florida Press Club Journalism Awards: First Place, Breaking News; Second Place, Feature Sports Writing

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Headline Surfer Publisher Henry Frederick received two awards for six stories in the 2015 Florida Press Club statewide journalism competition: A first place award in Breaking News and a second place showing in Sports Feature Writing.

The first place award in Breaking news was for these three stories:

• Bail set at $1.2 million for pregnant mom who drove van into Daytona Beach surf with 3 kids inside;

• VCSO: Port Orange father guns down his 3 kids then kills himself after wife runs next door;

• Edgewater cops shoot and kill confrontational man wielding butcher knife after tasering him has no impact.

The second place award in spoirts feature writing were for these entries:
