By DARLENE VANNEDGEWATER, Fla. -- Why is it these days we feel that we must know and broadcast every detail of everyone else’s life even if it ruins them?
Who decided we deserve to know these things? No one gave us or the media permission to tell the world everyone’s secrets. I watch all the building shows like Fixer Upper and Flip or Flop which have been in the news lately unfortunately.
Frankly, I don’t care what any of the stars have done in their past. I enjoy their shows and have no desire to see them shamed by old police reports or speculations of neighbors or supposed friends. The Gaines family is so much fun to watch. Chip and Joanna are very talented with the work they do helping others fix up their dream forever home. Their farm has grown as have their adorable children and it is joyful to watch them. Of late they have been smeared in the newspaper because of something their preacher said.

Now it seems any past troubles are fair game for the media to dig up and publish. My hope is that most people see through this tactic and do not ruin their lives. The poor Flip or Flop couple, who recently separated, are also being dragged over the coals with reports of Tarek running from their house with a gun and Christina dating a contractor on their show.
None of these reports tell all the details and shouldn’t. It’s their business and their's alone. Their show has been cancelled. Some day their beautiful children will grow up and read the junk being written now. Not bad enough it is Christmas and their family is split. So sad.
Poor Brad and Angelina’s kids are old enough to see the nasty reports about their parents right now. A divorce, even amicable is crushing to the kids. So the media jumps on every little detail and just makes everything worse. I think I liked the world before when these things were not allowed to be made public. We were allowed to have our movie and television heroes without being disillusioned by made-up stories or dredging up old skeletons from their closets.
No one is perfect, but do we need to know that? I think not.
