DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Rain is in the forecast for each of the next six for greater Daytona Beach-Orlando with a 70 percent chance of precipitation late this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

Here is the forecast for coastal regions along Interstate 95 and further inland along Interstate 4:

Today: Showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly after 2 pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. South wind around 10 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly before 8 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 75. South southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm. The chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11 am and 2 pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. Heat index values as high as 103. South wind 5 to 10 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Saturday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 75. South wind around 5 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%.

Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. South wind 5 to 10 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%. Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 74. East southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. High near 91. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming east in the afternoon. Wednesday: Showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming east northeast at around 5 mph in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 60%. Wednesday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 75. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Thursday Showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Light northeast wind becoming east northeast 5 to 10 mph in the morning. The chance of precipitation is 70%.

Beach Safety Report: Volusia County Beach Safety flew the red flag ton Thursday and rescued one person out of the ocean.

"Earlier this (Thursday) afternoon, we responded to the area of the Main Street pier in Daytona Beach for a man in his 60s who was in the water and got caught in a rip current," Beach Safety Deputy Chief Tamra Malphurs told Headline Surfer in an email media alert. "We pulled the victim from the water without a pulse. CPR was immediately carried out and the victim was transported to the hospital. The last report indicated the victim regained a pulse and is hospitalized. He was visiting with his wife from Maryland."
