DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Plenty of sunshine with temperatures in the high 60s and low 70s is forecast for the World's Most Famous Beach today and Friday, with a chance of showers over the weekend.

Here is the latest forecast from the National Weather Service in Melbourne for the greater Daytona-Orlando area:

Today: Sunny, with a high near 67. Windy, with a west-northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 46. West northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 71. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 50. South southeast wind around 5 mph becoming west southwest after midnight.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Saturday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers after 1 am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Sunday: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%. Sunday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. West-northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. The chance of precipitation is 40%.

Monday: A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 69. North wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
