Robert Champion, a 26-year-old drum major with the Florida A&M University marching band, collapsed and died within an hour of a hazing incident the night of Nov. 19, during which he suffered multiple blunt trauma blows to his body a tragedy that not only made headlines, across the country. An autopsy by the the Orange County Medical Examiner's office determined the death of the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University student a homicide.

EDGEWATER -- Teenagers are not qualified to talk back. Experience of life is the true qualifier to have any spoken word allowed. I deal with teens on a daily basis and find their insolence far from cute.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- Debra Gibson was a street walker with a record of petty crimes. James Desmond Booth was a convicted drug dealer. When their paths met again on Jan. 25, 2011, she was shot dead.

DAYTONA BEACH -- The Junior League of Daytona Beach hosted over 700 attendees at its 10th annual Sweetheart's Ball on Saturday night at the Hilton Daytona Beach Resort.

The father/daughter formal dinner dance is a signature fundraiser for the Junior League, with proceeds benefitting community projects that directly impact the lives of families in need, expectant and new mothers, students struggling to succeed, and children dealing with the loss of a loved one.

DAYTONA BEACH -- An Iraqi war veteran shot and killed his wife and then turned a rifle on himself in a murder-suicide over the weekend, Daytona Beach police said.

The wife was identified as Tiffany Pemberton, 25, and the husband, Jason Pemberton, 28. Both were found in their residence at 778 Jimmy Ann Drive No. 1614.

Wrestling fans all over the world mourned the May 20, death of "Macho Man" Randy Savage, who died in a single vehicle crash in Pinellas County, which an autopsy revealed was caused by a heart attack. He was 58.
