NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The mayor was there in a bright red shirt under his blazer, the big artificial tree stood tall there, and so were several hundred people for "Christmas on Canal," the CRA-sponsored event with a cool $10,000 to spark the spirit of shopping. It is important, however, to take some time to realize how thankful we, as Americans, truly are. Most of us live a quality of life that is beyond the wildest dreams of the rest of the world.

OAK HILL -- On this Thanksgiving holiday and every day for that matter, I am thankful to be a five-year survivor of breast cancer. Because of my good health and good friends, I am thankful that I can help out my city of Oak Hill in some small way as vice mayor.
HOLLY HILL, Fla. -- A 61-year-old former pastor and retired Catholic priest who lives in New Smyrna Beach, is among a group of men rounded up in a sting alleging gay sex in a restroom at Ross Point Park in Holly, police said.
