APOPKA -- A 16-year-old boy on a bicycle was struck and killed by at least one and possibly two vehicles while trying to cross State Road 436, east of Thompson Road, about 8:20 p.m. Monday in an apparent hit-and run, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The victim, identified as Edward Fernandez, was pronounced dead a short time later at Florida Hospital Apopka.

PHOENIX, Md. – Bethune-Cookman junior women’s golfer Jennifer Hide shot a 4-over 148 in collecting a runner-up finish for the Daytona campus at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational on Monday, hosted by Towson University at the Towson Golf & Country Club in Phoenix, Md.

As a team, Bethune-Cookman finished third in the field with scores of 314 and 311 for the tournament. The total for Bethune-Cookman equaled +49, 625 throughout the par-72 course (6,139 yards).

B-CU Director of Golf Loritz “Scooter” Clark was happy with the results from the season-opening tournament, especially considering B-CU was the only team fielding just four individuals into the scoring.
