DELAND -- The DeLand Area Chamber of Commerce will host a State of West Volusia panel discussion featuring the mayors of DeBary, DeLand, Deltona, Lake Helen, Orange City and Pierson.

DAYTONA BEACH -- Passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport increased 15 percent in February compared with February 2009.
During February, 42,803 passengers flew in and out of the county-operated airport. This compares with 37,283 travelers recorded in February 2009. The passenger traffic increase in February is the result of more seats being offered by Delta and U.S Airways. The traffic increase in February marks the fourth consecutive month of traffic growth over the same month the previous year.
EDGEWATER -- The Friends of the Library will sponsor a community yard and craft sale from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, at the Edgewater Public Library.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Historic Flagler Avenue is the place to be on Saturday, March 21, for the Art Walk and Wine Tasting event.
The fun begins 10 a.m. and ends 6 p.m. During this time, attendees can take an enjoyable stroll along the avenue while enjoying the wide variety of art works featured inside galleries, as well as by several visiting artists under canopies, and also participate in a "Wine Tasting."

DAYTONA BEACH -- A 19-year-old Charleston, S.C., Spring Breaker who was climbing down from a third-floor hotel balcony to the one below when he fell just bewfore midnight Sunday, remains in serious condition at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach police said.
DELAND --New Smyrna Beach Middle School took home first place in a recent Black History Brain Bowl at Stetson University.
Members of the middle school team were Breon Clark, Anthony Little, Jalen Merrick and Devon Robinson. They were coached by Florida Crooms.
DELAND -- Alert Volusia County Sheriff's deputies discovered a handgun in a Tennessee man's briefcase during a routine security screening at the Volusia County Courthouse, DeLand, Thursday afternoon, an agency spokesman said.
