NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Retiring Volusia County Councilman Jack Hayman said tonight's 5 p.m. meeting of the Southeast Volusia Hospital Authority at the New Smyrna Beach Library to redo in the "sunshine" its discussions over the future of Bert Fish Medical Center is something that not only is important in his lifetime.

SE Volusia hospital board votes unanimously to partner with a larger hospital
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The seven members of the Southeast Volusia Hospital Authority Board voted unanimously Tuesday night to "partner up" with a larger, more financially-stable hospital. That was the easy part and fully expected. Whether the 3 1/2-hour meeting "cures" the board of alleged Sunshine violations leading up to that vote in the courts is another matter.

Edgewater officials issue help numbers for those in distress due to flooding from tropical depression
EDGEWATER -- Emergency services officials in Edgewater want to assure residents and merchants alike that there is a number to call in dealing with stormwater drainage flooding with the tropical depressssion approaching.
"As Tropical Depression #16 approaches our area, Edgewater Fire Rescue would like to inform residents that during the day (Tuesday) workers assured the function of all of the stormwater drainage systems throughout the City," said Jill Danigel, spokeswoman and captain of the Edgewater Fire Rescue.
