They are the epitome of educational excellence and have been recognized for their teaching abilities with "Crystal Apple Awards" by the Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce.

"What is the Chamber doing for economic development?" I hear this more often than not. People wonder what the Chamber does to promote economic development for Southeast Volusia. I can tell you, "plenty."

A lot of what we do is behind the scenes traveling to Tallahassee, sifting through the legislation that is currently moving forward, attending and speaking at numerous city council or city commission boards, city economic development boards, and Volusia County Growth Management commission meetings.

With deep sorrow we just received word that Mary Ellison has just passed away due to an unforeseen illness. Just recently retired, Mary was a seventeen year veteran at the Chamber of Commerce and one of the most delightful people to have ever graced our community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Once we receive word of any funeral arrangements we will pass them along to you.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The Chamber of Commerce is planning an exciting street event in downtown New Smyrna Beach on Saturday: Jan. 22. the Home Show & Business Expo.

"(It) will bring together bring together area retail stores, businesses, local non-profit groups and our great citizens," said Samantha Bishop, executive vice president of the Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce.
