Follies Goes to the Movies…The Sequel, at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. -- Follies Goes to the Movies -- The Sequel -- will be held at the Omond Beach Performing Arts Center March 27-29 .

The multiple award winning Follies Dancers troupe will join the entire Follies cast at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center on the three consecutives nights.

ORMOND BEACH -- State Rep. Charles Dave Hood, Jr., former mayor of Ormond Beach, will be sworn in Friday as a circuit judge at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, l399 N. U.S. 1.

His "investiture" will begin at 3:30 p.m. with his colleagues on the bench sitting as a group as he takes the oath of office for the judgeship in the 7th Judicial Circuit.

North Florida folk singer to perform at Ormond Beach Regional Public Library

Bob Patterson, Florida folk singer will perform at Ormond Beach LibraryORMOND BEACH -- Bob Patterson will share the folklore and songs of Florida during a free performance from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Ormond Beach Regional Public Library, 30 S. Beach St.

Patterson is a professional singer, songwriter and storyteller with more than 40 years of experience performing at clubs and festivals across the nation.

He co-founded the Gamble Rogers Folk Festival and received the 2011 Mother Earth and Fellow Man Award in recognition for his gifts to folk culture.

VCSO: 3-year-old boy drowns in family swimming pool near Ormond Beach

David Airhart, 3 years old, has been identified as the toddler who drowned in the family swimming pool in the 3600 block of Rodeo Acres Drive, in unincorporated Volusia County near Ormond Beach as shown in the locator map at left.
 

ORMOND BEACH -- The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances that led to a 3-year-old boy's drowning death in a backyard swimming pool near Ormond Beach on Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies were dispatched to a home on Rodeo Acres Drive after receiving a 911 call at 3:45 p.m. The toddler was identified as David Airhart. The father and an older sibling were home at the time, according to a Sheriff's incident report.

Children's Musical Theatre Camp to be held at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center

ORMOND BEACH -- The Children’s Musical Theatre Workshop conducts a three-week-long Musical Theatre Camp program annually in July at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center. The camp is for children from Kindergarten age through High School. The camp experience includes instruction in voice, dance, acting, and stagecraft.

This year, the camp program will culminate in the entire camp presenting a public performance of “The Music Man, Jr.” at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center at 7p.m. Thursday, July 24. The long running and beloved Broadway musical features such songs as “(Ya Got) Trouble,” “Seventy Six Trombones, and “Goodnight Ladies.”

Ormond Beach Public Library to host free art classes

ORMOND BEACH -- Adults can try their hand at drawing during four free art classes at the Ormond Beach Regional Library, 30 S. Beach St.Local artist Betty Travis will lead the classes from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on these Saturdays: Aug. 9: Introduction to drawing; Aug. 16: Drawing trees; Aug. 23: Drawing rocks & mountains; Aug. 30: Drawing flowers.
