DELAND -- A 46-year-old West Volusia man has been found guilty of manslaughter while driving under the influence resulting in the death of a motorcyclist.

Chris Kelly of the Volusia State Attorney’s office said the case against Tony Rogers dates back to September of 2007. It took a jury less than three hours Thursday to find Rogers guilty in the death of Raymond Flores.

Reports at the time said that Rogers struck the Flores bike at the intersection of Montecito Avenue and Elkcam Boulevard, with Rogers hiding the beer in a nearby yard that was in his SUV.

The guilty verdict followed a two-day trial. Rogers faces up to 15 years in state prison when he's sentenced at a later date by presiding trial Circuit Judge Margaret Hudson.
