Memorial service for Milford "Dink" Dinker, Jr. age 81,New Smyrna Beach, who died Wednesday, June 23 at Bert Fish Medical Center. will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 28 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 485 Turnbull Bay Road, New Smyrna Beach, with the Reverend Don Reiter, officiating.
Born in Hackensack, New Jersey, Dink received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1951 from the University of Maryland. He began his career in sales with Fenton Paint Company in Baltimore, and moved into pharmaceuticals first as Sales Manager for Lakeside Laboratories in Milwaukee and then in Morristown, New Jersey as President of Lactona Division of Warner Lambert. He later became Vice President of Marketing for Merrill-Dow in Cincinnati, Ohio; then Executive Vice President of Boots Pharmaceuticals in Shreveport, Louisiana, and ended his career as Executive Vice President of Marketing for Boots Division, Abbott Labs in Chicago.
Retiring in 1989, he moved to New Smyrna Beach where he became active as a Council Member for Trinity Lutheran Church, a member of the Historic New Smyrna Beach Preservation Commission, and was Past Commodore of the Smyrna Yacht Club. Dink's hobbies included model trains, work as a Master Model Ship Builder, water colorist and an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Harriet F. Dinker; son Milford "Chip" Dinker, III, New Smyrna Beach; daughters, Robin (Ed) Culbertson, Chicago, Illinois and Holly (Jim) Hancock, Bowie, Maryland; grandchildren; Milford Dinker IV, Brian Dinker, both of New Smyrna Beach; Sarah Culbertson (James) Nau, Edward (Reagan) Culbertson, Gretchen Culbertson, all of Chicago; brother, Dr. Robert E. (Betty) Dinker, Glen Arm, Maryland; nieces and nephews, Kathy Silas, Kerry Ulevich, Robert Dinker, Jr., Susan Dowell, Polly Muir and William Kelbaugh.
