Funeral service for Bernadette "Berni" Matthew, age 34 of Edgewater, who died Friday at Bert Fish Medical Center, will be 10:00 a.m.,Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, New Smyrna Beach, with burial to follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater. Calling hours will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Born in Ft. Lauderdale, Berni moved to our area in 2004 from Pompano Beach. She participated in the Special Olympics and won several ribbons. Garth Brooks was her favorite country music artist and she loved NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon. Berni enjoyed fishing and art, and because she loved to talk, met many friends.
She is survived by her loving parents, Wayne and Sharon Grant of Edgewater; a step-sister, Jennifer Wilkerson(Chris) of Wellington, FL; Maternal grandmother, Margaret Matthew of Port St. Lucie; Paternal grandmother, Esther Goulding of Port Orange, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
