Passenger traffic climbs at Daytona Beach International Airport

Flights at Daytona Beach International Airport climbed by more than a fourth compared to the same time a year ago.

DAYTONA BEACH -- Passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport increased 27 percent in June compared with June 2009.

Over the past six months, total passenger traffic has increased an average of 13 percent per month over the same period last year.

The Volusia County-operated airport recorded 39,296 incoming and outgoing passengers during June. This compares to the 30,834 travelers recorded in June last year.

For the12-month period ending June 30, total passenger traffic increased 3 percent from 440,157 passengers last year to 454,260 passengers this year. For June 2010, passenger loads for U.S Airways and Delta Air Lines more than doubled compared to June 2009.

“We remain cautiously optimistic this upward trend will continue through the busy summer months,” Airport Director Rich Karl said.
