County Council, District 3: NSBNEWS.net endorses anybody but Trovato

NSBNEWS.net videos by Sera Frederick.

Council Council District 3 fields has seven candidates, all worthy of consideration, but George Trovato. NSBNEWS.net would support any of the front runners in Joie Alexander, Ellen Darden and Deborah Denys. Roger Gray, Bill Benedict and John D'Hondt could be considered second tier candidates because they lack political experience, although they are caring and responsible people. George Trovato stands sits alone at the bottom of the barrel.

Trovato has grandstanded at various public meetings, even causing embarrassment for outgoing District 3 incumbent Jack Hayman and Mayor Adam Barringer at a recent beach driving forum. Questions about whether his legal residence is Port Orange or Deltona continue to dog him. He also made waves when his campaign website had him serving in the military and then it didn't. The latter was reality. He blamed it on his webmaster.

Alexander, the County Council at-large incumbent is seen as a "seat jumper" by Darden and Denys, though her name recognition and reputation as a hard worker will likely land her in one of the two spots in an almost certain runoff. That leaves Darden and Denys, either of whom are capable of beating Alexander in November. Gray, who enjoys strong union support could be the wild card. Benedict, a farmer, and D'Hondt, a restaurant owner, are classy and caring. Both lack experience, though.

NSBNEWS.net is taking a stand only against George Trovato in our endorsement for this race with a prediction of Joie Alaxander and a pick 'em between DFarden abd Denys in a runoff with her.
