NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- If ever there was a candidate tailor-made for this election season, it's Margie Patchett, the ultimate anti-incumbent, who would come in and take charge. Patchett is our clear-cut choice endorsement for Volusia County Council at-large.

We say clear cut with a double meaning where she would push to cut taxes by reducing wasteful spending and downsize government, especially at the county level where fat is plentiful and the incumbents unwilling to make the tough choices.

Margie Patchet formed Volusia Tax Reform as a political action committee and she's starteed a revolution of sorts locally. The Port Orange resident is caring and compassionate, but firm on the bottom line.

Joyce Cusack, the former state representative from West Volusia, may very well win the primary because of name recognition, but Patchet deserves a run-off spot ahead of Port Orange Vice Mayor Mary Martin.

Outside of the judiciary, Margie Patchet is the best overall candidate in this primary among the multiple races and she has the full endorsement of NSBNEWS.net.
