NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Telvin Hooks dashed 56 yards for a touchdown to give the 'Cudas a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, but it was transfer running back's former team, Mainland, that scored the final 27 points to win the game Friday night at home, 27-7.

Hooks, who played for Mainland last year, had 52 yards overall in the game to lead NSB's rushing attack.

Mainland running back Kelvin Lee rushed for a game-high 150 yards, giving the Buccaneers their second consecutive victory. The 'Cudas have dropped three in a row.

Both teams now stand at 2-3. Mainland also had a new coach on its sidelines, interim Scott Wilson, who took over for John Maronto, who resigned Sept. 22, two days after the State Attorney's Office released a DVD and audio of his Labor Day weekend arrest, for which he was charged with misdemeanor solicitation of prostitution from an undercover Daytona Beach cop posing as a hooker.
