Being responsible studying for end-of-semester high school exams step closer to adulthood

Its exam week at New Smyrna Beach High School and the stress is getting to most students. We’ve been preparing for the tests, but the pressure is still present. Our schedule is very different this week; we have Friday off as a time for teachers to put in report card grades. Monday is a normal day however, it is the only one.

We will take our first and seventh period exam on Monday. Tuesday we will take third and fourth period exams. Wednesday will be the day for fifth and sixth period exams and finally on Thursday we will take second period’s exam.

Each day, after our exams, we will have the opportunity to check out, (on different times). It is a big relief that the exams are spread out and we have 90 minutes for each exam. The test I’m most worried about is AP Human Geography. Since it is an Advanced Placement class, it’s critical that you get a good grade in order to get the credit for the class.

The exams make up for 20 percent of our grade so they are very important. Although most students prepared as much as possible for the tests, some took it less seriously. During the optional reviews, some people decided to do otherwise and not review.

I think it’s so important to opt for good grades in order to accomplish your goals. You only have so much time in high school to get the grades you want.

When grades are looked past or looked at as an after-thought, how can you expect to be thought of as a responsible adult? It’s so important to stick to your dreams and know what you need to do to reach them.
