ORMOND BEACH -- A man celebrating New Year's at the Rockin' Ranch was shot and killed 2:30 a.m. by the estranged husband of a woman the victim was with as they drove off, according to police.

A 36-year-old man later identified by patrons as Keith Roberts, 36, of South Daytona, was shot to death in his pick-up truck after he left the bar with Shannon Pursley and the woman's estranged husband opened fire on the vehicle, according to police, who did not release the driver's name..

Roberts sped off but collapsed several blocks away and was pronounced dead on arrival at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach. Shannon Pursley was treated for non-life threatening injuries from shattered glass.

The alleged gunman, Christian Pursley, 37, drove off from the bar and a Volusia County Sheriff's deputy followed him to his Ormond Beach home after alert patrons flagged him down.

A standoff ensued with Pursley barricading himself for several hours as a Sheriff's SWAT team was brought in and several blocks cordoned off. He eventually surrendered and was taken into custody, Omond Beach police said.

The Pursleys, who are going through a divorce, got into an argument inside the bar, after which, the husband walked outside and apparently waited for his wife and her friend. He sprayed the vehicle with gunfire as they got in, witnesses told police.

Christian Pursley was charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.and transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail.
