68. Tornado warning issued for Volusia County; NSB area gets heavy rain

The greater New Smyrna Beach area sustained a brief thunderstorm, but no major problems as a result. The video shows traffic on North Dixie Freeway at 5:25 p.m. during the height of the rainstorm.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The National Weather Service in Melbourne issued a tornado warning just after 5 p.m. for Volusia County with a report of a tornado approaching Spruce Creek and Interstate 95 and headed in the direction of Wilbur by the Sea and Ponce Inlet at 5:15 p.m. near Ponce Inlet and Interstate 95, Other areas included in the warning were Port Orange, New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater and unincorporated Bethune Beach.

The tornado warning was to go until 5:30 p.m. and that deadline passed a few minutes ago with no reported damage.
