ORMOND BEACH -- The skull and other remains discovered Sunday near the Ormond Business Park are those of a woman believed to have been the ages of 20 and 45, Ormond Beach police said today after receiving the results of an autopsy from the Volusia coroner's office conducted earlier in the morning.

The cause of death is unknown and is being treated as a suspicious death.

"Investigators believe the body was placed at the location it was found sometime within the last six months," Ormond Beach police spokesman Lt. Kenny Hayes said. "The remains will undergo further examination in an attempt to narrow down the age of the deceased. Investigators have released a photograph of a sandal that was found with the body. The sandal appears to be of a unique design and may help identify the victim."

Investigators now have a description of the body found 3:45 p.m. Sunday at 9W. Tower Circle as a result of this morning’s autopsy, Hayes reiterated Besides the age, the autopsy revealed the skull and other remains are likely those of a white female with light brown to dirty blonde hair, 5 feet to 5 feet 2. 100 to 115 pounds with a slender build.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Ormond Beach Police Det. Sergeant James Gogarty at 386-676-3520 or Crimestoppers at 277-TIPS or 1-888-277-TIPS.
