Justice for Trayvon: A Search for AnswersTrayvon Martin

EDGEWATER -- A sense of relief came over me with the arrest of George Zimmerman on the charge of second-degree murder in the Sanford shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. As much as the whole state of Florida is a tinderbox of dryness prone to fire, I was more and more feeling that this situation was also a tinderbox that was on the verge of exploding into violence.

I feel as though I have been holding my breath as the demand for justice for Trayvon escalated and more “dignitaries” joined the fray revving up the population of not just Florida, but the nation as a whole.

The fallout of all that however would have been the burning down of Florida in either literal or figurative terms. I am not saying I think Mr. Zimmerman shot Trayvon intentionally.

The facts are yet to come out. I just feel with the arrest, I finally took a big calming breath. Now Mr. Zimmerman has a chance to tell his side of the story, which no one in the public has actually heard. Only two people know the real story and one is dead.

My opinion is that even if the Stand Your Ground law applies to Mr. Zimmerman, it also applied to Trayvon. If some stranger were following you in the dark of night wouldn’t you feel your life was in danger?

Wouldn’t you have then under this law the right to confront that person to try to find out what his intentions were? They both have a side and I, for one, want to hear them, the latter through the state's evidence.

Let’s hope there is justice for both and a relaxing of the population now that they have what they have been clamoring for.
