I didn’t know Peter Mallory well, but I did know of the relationship between him and Henry Frederick. The two of them gave this community a voice with NSBNEWS.net and for that that we are all thankful.
It is one of the many living legacies Pete leaves behind for the betterment of those he lived among and cared about. Having been fortunate to have been a blogger for this venue since day 1, I have sparred with Pete on occasion since we had differing political views. Even though we disagreed on various issues I always read his blog and was eloquently made aware of the opposite side of my thinking. Now and then he even won me over to his side of things.
Pete was a regular guy with a huge brain and compassion for people and his country. His words were written in everyman language and his points made clear by explaining in detail why he thought what he did. This town will not be the same without Pete in it. The Internet newspsaper will go on because of Henry’s dedication to his craft and because that is what Pete would have wanted. He believed in this endeavor and supported Henry in every way he could. Their friendship is what Henry will miss most.
Moving on will not be easy for any of us, least of all Pete’s family, but move on we shall.
We all will try to carry on as he would wish and keep the community informed as he meant it to be when this paper began. Pete, you can rest easy now that your physical battle is over knowing that your vision continues with your friend Henry at the helm and we fellow bloggers carrying on as you expect. There will, however, be an empty space in our hearts for a long time to come.
