Republican National Convention in Tampa a rousing success

ORMOND BEACH -- If the idea was to make Mitt Romney “more accessible and likeable,” then the Republican National Convention in Tampa succeeded beyond anyone’s imagination.

The heartfelt tribute from his wife, Ann, showed his compassion, hard work, and determination to do things right. His business associates uniformly praised him for his willingness to debate ideas, find a solution that worked and then do the work needed. Romney’s religion is something he takes seriously but privately. We would never have known of his lifelong efforts on others’ behalf if they hadn’t been part of this convention.

Condi Rice’s speech touched on the important and vital issues America faces today. “When the world looks at us today, they see an American government that cannot live within its means. They see an American government that continues to borrow money that will mortgage the future of generations to come. The world knows that when a nation loses control of its finances, it eventually loses control of its destiny.”

Clint Eastwood used an empty chair to represent President Obama and talked to it throughout his appearance. In discussing Obama’s ending the war in Afghanistan, Eastwood in own his puckish way said: “I think you’ve mentioned something about having a target date for bringing everybody home. You gave that target date, and I think Mr. Romney asked the only sensible question, you know, he says, ‘Why are you giving the date out now? Why don’t you just bring them home tomorrow morning?’ ”

In big ways and small ones, the contrast between the two men who want to be president of the United States comes down to Mr. Eastwood’s statement, “I would just like to say something, ladies and gentlemen. Something that I think is very important. It is that, you, we -- we own this country.”

The audience erupted in applause and then, “We -- we own it. It is not you owning it, and not politicians owning it. Politicians are employees of ours.” The current administration has never acknowledge this nor worked to protect America from the abyss of socialism.

Obama thinks the government owns the country and doles out benefits to 47% of Americans in the name of “caring.” Unfortunately, the rest of us pay for it through our taxes.

Romney understands it takes money to make money, but that real entrepreneurship creates jobs.

As our economy stumbles along under the care and control of Obama, Bernanke and other associated cronies in Congress, seniors who followed the rules, (i.e. get a good education, work hard, get married, have children, buy a house and prepare for your retirement) are out of luck. Investments that actually make money are a thing of the past. I know this from personal experience.

Because the Federal Reserve has printed billions, or even a trillion or two, in worthless money, backed by nothing, American dollars are worth only 40% of what they were worth when Obama took office in 2008.

The Washington Post said, “The recent recession wiped out nearly two decades of Americans’ wealth, according to government data released Monday, with middle-class families bearing the brunt of the decline."

The Federal Reserve said the median net worth of families plunged by 39 percent in just three years, from $126,400 in 2007 to $77,300 in 2010. That puts Americans roughly on par with where they were in 1992.” Note again this is from that bastion of the left, The Washington Post. Even they cannot hide what’s happened to America.

The Wall Street Journal tells us, “Almost half of U.S. retirees die with savings of $10,000 or less, but that grim finding doesn’t fully describe the variability and uncertainty that characterize retirement in America, according to a recent study.”

Yes, the RNC convention did its job of introducing the real Romney to voters. But if you still can’t differentiate between a man with a consistently great record of creating jobs and managing difficult situations, I urge you to see the movie “2016” to find out why Obama is bent on destroying America.
