Dorothy Hukill needs to make 'Heartfelt apology' for radio political ad making fun of Italian-American heritage

DiCara demands apologyEDGEWATER -- I find it very offensive that dist. 8 State Senate candidate Dorothy Hukill's radio ad pointing out her difference from her opponent, Frank Bruno, was to make fun of the New York-area Italian-American accent.

This is an unfortunate turn of events in the campaigns.

My family is very proud or our Italian heritage. Take a look at the areas where there is a high concentration of those of the Italian heritage and you will see decades of families in the construction business who built the infrastructure of the Northeast. We come from a family of high acheivers who worked hard for many generations to make a greater life for our children. T

he accomplishments of Americans with Italian heritage positively effects a vast part of our culture. Locally, this includes bakeries, restaurants, buildings and prominent business leaders. Rather than focus on the positive contributions that my family and others of Italian decent have made on this great country, I challenge Dorothy Hukill to tell us what contributions she has made and what she plans to do if elected.

I agree with Frank Bruno that every person should be offended when someone attacks the heritage of another. It seems that a heart felt apology is in order here, because no explanation will do.
