NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- A 64-year-old woman was found beaten to death in her home at 405 DeSoto Drive by her grown son, New Smyrna Beach police said.
Here is a synopsis of the what occurred after NSBPD received a 9-1-1 call at 10:24 a.m. as described by police spookesman Sgt. Shane Riggle: Earlier this morning, the son of Darlene Robertson responded to her residence at after she did not show up for work today. "
"The son found the female unresponsive on the floor and called police," Riggle told Headline Surfer®. "Police and medical personnel responded to the house and found the female deceased. Police observed injuries on the body to include blunt trauma type wounds to the head and cuts or stab wounds to the midsection. "

A crime scene has been established and an investigation is underway by the New Smyrna Beach Police Department in conjunction with the State Attorney’s Office.
New Smyrna Beach cops ask that anyone who spots a 2006 beige or tan Nissan Altima with Florida tag 803-MBW to please contact Central Dispatch at 386-424-2000 and advise on the whereabouts. The car belongs to the deceased woman.
