SANFORD, Fla. -- A 7-year-old diabled veteran a carjackd at gunpoint in the 100 block of Country Club Circle on Thursday night, Sanford cops said.
The Sanford Police Department is currently investigating an armed carjacking that occurred on the 100 block of Country Club Circle on August 13, 2015 at approximately 8:00 p.m. The victim in this crime is a 72 year-old disabled veteran.
The victim was headed to the store to purchase bread when he was approached by a man that told him, “I want your vehicle and I`m going to take it." The victim advised that he would not get out of the vehicle. The suspect then walked to the driver’s side, pointed a handgun directly in the face of the victim and stated "We will shoot you if you don`t get out."
The victim continued to reverse his vehicle as a second suspect walked towards him. The suspect opened the car door while pointing a handgun at the victim and demanded he get out of the car. The suspect then grabbed the victim by his left arm and pulled him from the vehicle to the ground. He then drove off in the vehicle taking the victim’s wallet, cell phone, walker cane, oxygen tank and medication.
“As a veteran, I outraged by the conducted of the individuals captured in the surveillance video,” said Chief Smith. “We are asking for assistance from the community to bring these individuals to justice as soon as possible as this matter is of great importance.”
