DAYTONA BEACH -- Passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport decreased 4 percent in April, compared with April 2009.
During April, 46,888 incoming and outgoing passengers passed through Daytona Beach International Airport. This compares with the 49,036 total passenger traffic in April 2009. For the 12-months ending April 30, annual passenger traffic decreased 8 percent -- 478,460 to 440,199 – in comparison with the previous 12-month period.
According to Airport Director Rick Karl, the traffic decrease in April reflects lingering economic conditions that are recovering, but slowly, throughout the region.
Between November 2009 and March 2010, passenger traffic had recorded consecutive monthly increases over the same month during the prior year, Karl pointed out.
During April there were 28,659 aircraft operations, which include all landings and takeoffs. This is a decrease of 9 percent from the prior year. For the 12-month period ending April 30, aircraft operations decreased 16 percent from 347,432 in 2009 to 290,455 in 2010.
