DELAND -- Morgan Gilreath Jr., Volusia County’s property appraiser, has provided updated damage assessments from May’s floods, indicating that 1,890 properties were damaged with a total value of $68,985,054, said Shelley Szafraniec, a county spokeswoman.
The figures include 1,109 single-family homes, 509 mobile homes, 178 multi-family units, and 94 commercial properties, Szafraniec said.
Reported damage to government facilities and infrastructure is estimated at $9,777,100, she added, citing estimates proviedd by Gilreath.

● Goodwill is accepting donations of gently used clothing at 1577 N. Nova Road, Holly Hill; and 3997 N. Nova Road, Port Orange. Goodwill
accepts requests from affected persons with a referral from the American Red Cross.
● The Jewish Federation of Volusia/Flagler will pick up gently used and non-flooded furniture. Please call (386) 672-0294.
● The Christ Team is accepting donations of clothing, furnitureand household goods. Residents may drop off donations at 1236 Eighth St., Holly Hill, or call (386) 255-4357 for pickup. The team accepts requests from affected persons with a referral from the American Red
Cross.
● The Salvation Army, 330 North St., Daytona Beach, is accepting donations of clothing and furniture. Flood victims may receive vouchers
for clothing and furniture that can be redeemed at the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Holly Hill starting Monday, June 8. Please call (386) 492-5907 for more information.
● Halifax Urban Ministries, 215 Bay St., Daytona Beach, is
accepting food donations. Flood victims may receive food once a week for

● Financial donations can be made to: the American Red Cross (386-226-1400), United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties’ "Disaster Recovery Fund" (386-253-0563) and VIND (386-255-5510).
VOLUNTEERS
Emergency officials and the United Way are asking residents who want to volunteer to not "self-deploy" into the affected areas. Citizens needing volunteers to assist with cleanup efforts are encouraged to contact the American Red Cross to make a request. Volunteers who are skilled and experienced in muck-outs, dry wall and mold remediation are needed to assist those who have been affected by the floods.
The City of Daytona Beach needs volunteers to help distribute comfort kits Friday, June 5. The Salvation Army is seeking administrative
support to help answer phones at its social services centers in Daytona Beach and Bunnell. For more information or to register for volunteer

CITY OF PORT ORANGE
The City of Port Orange has a contractor available to test for mold and mildew in homes within the city limits. Port Orange will pay for the
testing. Residents who want to have their homes tested should call (386) 506-5605 and leave a message that includes the resident’s name,
address, and a phone number where the resident can be contacted.
Under the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) program, the City of Port Orange has assistance for homeowners who meet eligible
income levels. The assistance could include reimbursement for the purchase of tarps, temporary housing, payment of insurance deductible,
and construction assistance. Please contact the City of Port Orange SHIP coordinator at (386) 506-5642.
MORE THAN 2,800 REGISTER WITH FEMA
One week after President Barack Obama declared Volusia County a disaster area eligible for federal help, more than 2,800 victims have
registered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). More than $3 million in aid has been approved.
Disaster Recovery Centers remain open from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. daily at:
* Holly Hill Recreation Center, 1046 Daytona Ave., Holly Hill;
* Dickerson Center, 308 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Daytona Beach.

(800) 621-FEMA (3362) or (800) 462-7585 (TTY) for hearing/speech impaired from 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. seven days a week.
VOLUSIA COUNTY APPROVED FOR DISASTER UNEMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE
The Agency for Workforce Innovation has received federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance to help flood victims in Volusia County who have become unemployed as a direct result of the flooding and who do not qualify for regular unemployment benefits.
